La Buvette Pepinet is definitely worth a visit, if you can find it. It’s perfectly visible on the map, but when you’re skiing down the blue run from the Les Violettes lift it’s easily missed, in spite of a small signpost, which appears to point in the direction of the piste but actually means to say turn sharp right away from the piste. For ease, we’d suggest riding the Colorado gondola back to Les Violettes and skiing down the red run on the other side, as the restaurant is visible below on the left from this run. There’s a wide sunny terrace with south views of the Alps peaks and a cosy room with few seats bad weather days. Be warned, this place can get very busy because of the terrace, so it’s best to book in peak season. The food is simple but locally prepared and with local ingredients, too. The slices of cheese on the Salade paysanne are incredible, so is the Tartiflette.
