There’s two restaurants in one here. If you’re looking for elegant European style dinging the head to Gwyns. Run by Gwyn Knowlton and George Gordon for 30 years, this posh tablecloth haven has some of the best food in Aspen. Favourites include blackened ahi with asian cucumber salad, and smoked duck with poached pears. There’s also an amazing wine list.
If you’re looking for a quick in and out then High Alpine mountain cafe has a wide ranging menu covering everything from speciality burgers to home-made soups, stews, salads, rice bowls, wraps, and treats made fresh daily. Famed for the wild Game Stew with a hot slice of Gwyn’s famous Apple Crisp, there’s also speciality cocktails and a huge flat screen TV, so you can watch the game while you eat. If you’re really desperate to get back out in the powder, speak to the barman for hot dogs, sliders and sandwiches. There’s a great deck area for blue sky days where you can kick back with a beer and take in the spectacular views.
